Big Parking Lot Sale: March 12!
We will be holding our first parking lot sale of the year on Sunday, March 12 from 10am - 2pm in the parking lot of our shop. Come by and check out our used bikes for sale. There will be bikes on sale of all types including hybrid/commuters, mountain bikes, vintage bikes, road bikes, and even some kid's bikes. We will be mainly selling ready-to-ride bikes, but we also have a small selection of other accessories. We accept cash or credit cards (including Apple and Google pay). Bring a helmet for safely test riding the bikes!
Check out our website for more information and spread the word!
Bicycle Donations, Homework Bikes, and Sales
The shop is open for volunteer events on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, and for groups by special arrangement. During the week we are currently open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons for sales, donations, scheduled volunteering, and take-home "homework" bikes. Book an appointment to reduce wait time. For donations, please email us pictures of your bike to donate. More details on bike donations can be found here.
We have continued to accept donations during the pandemic and we have many bikes that need to be fixed. Email Andrew to arrange a brief, distanced appointment at the shop and for questions about homework bikes.
You can find used bikes and some accessories here. If you are in the need of new accessories, our distributor is offering direct-to-customer shipping for larger orders. As a small organization, the pandemic continues to be a challenge. We're confident we'll make it through together, but all methods of support are immensely helpful and appreciated.
For more information, please check out our website.
Volunteer Opportunities
The Silicon Valley Bicycle Exchange still has needs for volunteers to help remotely especially in the following areas:
We have plenty of bikes that need repair and the tools to help! If you are an experienced bike mechanic and are interested in checking out a bike to repair at home, email info@... to schedule a time to pick up a bike. Don't worry if you don't have all the tools, we have bike stands and tools that can be checked out as well.

Off-site Hours Reporting
Many of you are doing work for us outside of our regular workdays: entering data, buying stuff, writing letters, fixing bikes, selling bikes, delivering bikes, attending steering committee meetings. We’d like to give our homework heroes and extra-mile volunteers credit for their hours, and keeping accurate volunteer hours is important for our operations. Use our offsite reporting form here or contact us at volunteer-records@....
Volunteer Perks
Many of you know about our apparel-based volunteer benefit: come out and volunteer with us 5 times or more in a 12-month period and earn yourself an official Bike Exchange t-shirt, shop apron, or hat. To redeem your benefit, talk to the friendly folks at the front desk.
Volunteer Name Tags
In order to keep all the names and faces straight and to help orient our first-time volunteers, we’re offering personalized Bike Exchange name tags complete with their own plastic holder. If you want one, contact nametags@... and let us know how you would like your name printed and the year that you started volunteering with us. Note that name tags are strictly optional and pseudonyms are acceptable!
