Erie Canal ride in September

Glenn Kirby

This message is forwarded from Valley Spokesmen member Karen Kaiser.  Karen also organizes the annual Tucson fixed-base ride that is a very fun ride.

Riding the Erie Canal Trail in New York has been on my Bucket List. I hope to be able to join Karen in September.  I also hope a few of my FFBC friends will be able to join in.

A group from the Valley Spokesmen Bicycling Club is planning a 400 mile (hotel to hotel) bike ride along the historic Erie Canal Trail from Buffalo to Albany N.Y.  The tour date is September 12 – 23, 2023 and is with Great American Bike Tours –  The route follows the canal along a paved and hard-packed trail that features dozens of lovely lift bridges, aqueducts, locks and canal parks and includes the beautiful and scenic countryside of Upstate NY; the incredible Finger Lakes region; the Revolutionary War history of Central NY; and the amazing beauty of the Mohawk Valley and the Capital Region!

Our group's contract requires that we get a minimum of 20 people to sign-up with Great American Bike Tours in order to meet the minimum deposit and confirm the date.  Currently 17 people are registered for the ride.

If you are interested in joining us please click on the link to the VS Calendar below for a complete description of the tour including a daily itinerary, extras, tour price and an optional Niagara Falls Explorer add on. - VS membership is not required to join the tour. Please Let us know if you are interested in the trip before February 1, 2023.

If you are a VS member and plan to go, please register for the tour on the calendar site. If you are not a member of the VSBC, you should register but also send an email to either Karen Kaiser or Jacqueline Mertz and included your name, email and phone number so we can contact you and add your contact information to the list.
