CCRS #1
The weather apps are not in consensus for our CCRS ride tomorrow, but a couple show rain holding off until 1 p.m. I'll check the weather in the morning and post a cancellation by 7:30 a.m. No cancellation means the ride is a GO!
This short (15 mile) and flat (140' of climbing) intro ride starts at The Bicycle Garage, 5006 Mowry Ave, Fremont. Sign in at 9:30 a.m. promptly for a safety review. All riders should review these helpful safety and etiquette sites beforehand. We will roll when the safety review ends. (NOTE: On future rides we'll follow club policy -- sign in at the scheduled time, and roll 15 minutes later.) We will ride through some nice neighborhoods in Newark, make a quick stop at the Don Edwards Visitor Center and return to the start. Some riders will choose to stop at Starbucks for a snack at the end. As a no-drop ride, will have a ride leader ‘sweep’ to ensure all riders complete the route safely. The CCRS ride leaders may not be capable of helping with mechanical issues, but the rides typically have experienced riders who can provide guidance. The Club Conditioning Ride Series (CCRS) runs weekly, weather permitting, from January 7 through April 8, one week before the Cinderella Classic. This is the perfect series for touring (10-13 mph on flats) and moderate (13-16 mph on flats) riders who want to improve their cycling and group-riding skills, build endurance, enjoy some great scenery and get to know other nice people. The CCRS ramps from an easy, flat intro ride to longer rides with more climbing, helping riders prepare for a full metric century (100K, or 62 miles) with climbing of up to 2500’. |
