TMCR - no specific route, but who will take over...
Hello Thursday Riders,
Tomorrow we will head over to the peninsula. We will decide on the specific route at the start. Bring an idea and we will ride the old fashion way - without ridewithgps, without route sheets. I estimate about 30miles and less than 1,000'.
I announced last Thursday that I will be moving to Washington State, a bit north of Seattle. We are putting our home on the market on Feb 21. Our new home won't be ready until probably June so I plan to continue riding until then. Well, I hope to be riding more than I have been as soon as our house is sold. I will be sad to leave my riding buddies and the Thursday Morning Coffee Ride that I started about 20 years ago. It began at the old coffee shop in the old Raley's shopping center with Valdez, continued for years with Debbie Watanuki and then on my own. I've had lots of help along the way, a lot of people sub and especially the last 5 years with Ken Goldman's assistance with routes when I was feeling overwhelmed doing LAP rides too. My thoughts are to have the Thursday Morning Rides continue but with different leaders as it is a lot of work to do solo. So, if you are interested in helping lead TMCR please send me a personal email (not to the group). Maybe you'll take one or two Thursdays or can only help sub.
Let's see what the response is, we will meet for coffee and make a plan.

Thursday Morning Coffee Ride across the Dumbarton
WhenThu, 10 February, 09:30 – 14:00
WhereParking lot at the base of the Dumbarton Bridge (at the end of Marshlands Rd (map) (map)
DescriptionLength: 25-35 miles; Elevation: feet;
Terrain: 2,3 Pace: T,M
Meet at the parking lot at the base of the Dumbarton Bridge (at the end of Marshlands Road) and we will head across the bridge to various destinations.
Although we will be riding across the bay, the specific route for this second Thursday of the month repeating ride will be posted here (with an attachment for you to print) as well as to the FFBC email groups (https://ffbc.groups.io/g/info/topics ) once it is selected. This is usually done a day or maybe two days before the ride. Sometimes we ride without route sheets so we regroup as necessary and no one is left behind.
For a flat ride we head through East Palo Alto and along a few paths to Shoreline Park for lunch or along the creek with a bit of shade. For a ride with climbing, we do Woodside Road, Sand Hill/Whisky Hill, Alpine Loop, Arastradero or Edgewood Road. Sometimes the climbing is optional. We always stop for coffee ($) and riders are welcome to head back on their own.
Extreme temperatures, park closure, construction, rain, poor air quality or the whim of the ride leader may modify or cancel the route. Check here for updates: firstname.lastname@example.org
