Cinderella Conditioning ride for March 24 - Crystal Springs #RideChange

Julia Walker

Since this ride was rained out last week, we will do it this Saturday. The ride start location is Bidwell Bayfront Park, please plan to arrive by 8:30 for an 8:45 start.

If you printed last week's route sheet, please do not use it! The issue with the ride has been fixed in the attached version.
RideWithGPS: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/27010697

Join us for one of the highlights of the Conditioning Ride Series, a ride to beautiful Crystal Springs Reservoir. Starting at Bayfront Park, we ride to Menlo Park where we’ll weave through the neighborhoods. We’ll make our way to Woodside and then ride down Canada Rd., taking in the beautiful views of the reservoir. We’ll U-turn at HWY 92 and head to our coffee/lunch stop. From there we’ll make our way back to the start of the ride!

DescriptionLength: 25-35 miles Terrain: 2, 3; Pace: T, M Ken is subbing for me today! This week the route starts at the Sunol Train Station. There are lots of places we can go and sometimes a portion of the climbing is optional and mileage can be reduced. Our favorite destinations include the Corner Bakery or Peet's via Kilkare, the water tower and Bernal Bump or maybe out to Panama Red Coffee in Livermore by way of Sycamore Grove/Holdener Park or the climbs out by Signal Hill and the fun descent on Croak Road with lunch at Panera in Livermore. Another favorite is Denica's in Dublin via Windemere. Bring $ for coffee or lunch. Extreme temperatures, construction or the whim of the ride leader may modify the route. TITLE: Surprise!  2018 LAP Celebration, Beer & Food Ride!

MILEAGE/ELEVATION GAIN:  40/1850’

DATE:  3/18/18

TIME: 9:30AM

START:   Parking lot at the end of Marshlands Rd, at the base of the Dumbarton Bridge (Fremont side).

Just when you were wondering what you were going to do with your Sundays, now that the last LAP ride is over…  Surprise! We are holding a 2018 LAP Celebration Ride, complete with a beer and food stop! Please join us, whether or not you rode any of the LAP rides this year.   Our route will take us up to the Redwood City Cross and then back down again to the best part of the ride: beer and food!  We will stop at the Marsh Manor Center, at Marsh & Florence, in Menlo Park, where we can indulge at Freewheel Brewing, Starbucks, and a wide variety of yummy cuisines, sweets and ice cream at the local stores.

IMPORTANT note, we will start the ride later at 9:30am and we will meet at the BASE of the Dumbarton Bridge, so we don’t have to ride the dreaded Marshlands Rd.  There is plenty of parking at this location but no convenient bathroom.  Please use the facilities at Don Edwards before you park by the bridge. As usual, we will have options for a shortcut or two if you want to reduce mileage or skip the climb.    See the route here:https://ridewithgps.com/routes/26999476.  We will maintain a Touring through Moderate pace (10 to 16 mph). No drops and regroups as needed. Extreme weather or construction may modify the route and rain cancels. Check the FFBC message board or email or call us.

We will mainly stay in Fremont but ride through Newark and sometimes Union City and Milpitas on occasion. Sometimes the climbing is optional. Reminder for Club Meeting Tuesday

David Walker

Just as a reminder, the club meeting is on Tuesday, March 13 at 7:30PM. There's still plenty of time to sign up. As a bonus, new FFBC members Rober McManmon and Michelle Huang will be briefly presenting about their bike tours business that organizes tours in Japan. This will be followed up by a presentation on keeping your bike safe.

As before, the club will supply food for members. This month, I'm bringing in Burritos from Chipotle. If you plan on attending the meeting, fill out this form so I'll know how much and what kind of food to order. I'll probably place the order at around Noon on Tuesday so sign up before then.
As always, the meeting will be held at:

Fremont Adult School, Room N6 (all the way in the back, in the back row of buildings)
Fremont, CA 94538

I hope you can make it! If you have any questions, let me know.

By the way, I posted this to the Yahoo group as well. If you received it on Yahoo and not through groups.io, let me know.

Thanks,
David Walker
