Is the ride on Tuesday or Thursday? I've heard it change at least once, just want to be sure.

Gina, Judy and Nick all crashed on 84W in the section of the road that has been splitting for about 6 months.  I am going to email Woodside and maybe the county about fixing that section.  It is about 1/2 mile up from the WOLH turn.  If everybody could also send out a note maybe our pressure could create an effect.

Gina was able to ride home under her own power.  She had some road rash, but checked out very well with the EMT personnel.  She is a little sore but otherwise appears to be physically well.

Nick fractured 4 ribs, the manubrium and L1 and L2 transverse process with non-displacement.  He spent the first night in the hospital for observation but is home now and resting with pain.  Mentally he is fine but physically very roughed up.  His bicycle appears to be okay except for the broken handle bars.  I picked it up from the fire station on Saturday.

Judy dislocated her shoulder and fractured her hip.  Amazingly her bike shows absolutely no signs of an accident.  No scratches on anything (hoods, saddle, etc.).  Her husband showed up just in time to pick up the bike himself.

I appreciate the way everybody handled the situation on Saturday.  You all took charge and slowed traffic, moved bikes, and showed the utmost concern for the riders.  Thank you all for that.  I want our club to be know for its deep concern and compassion for all the individuals that ride their bikes and you came through with flying colors.

Our hopes and wishes go out to all the riders, and we hope for a speedy recovery.  We are all here for you so if you should need anything please let us know.

l can’t make this ride on 9/11/21 so willing to transfer $89 registration cost less the $15 fee.  Reply to sender (me) if interested otherwise I’ll post to the TdF exchange blog.

Thanks,
Colin

Can I transfer my registration?  Does the transferee have to ride the same route (ride length) that I signed up for?

If you cannot make the ride you can download the Transfer Form and some other lucky person gets to ride!  The transferee will pay a $15 fee to take your registration when they check in.

Happily, the transferee does not have to ride the same length!  So if you signed up for the 50K, the transferee can ride the 100K or 100 mile!  That said, if they are riding a longer ride, they must also pay the increment.  For example, if you signed up for the 50K and they want to ride the 100K, they will pay an additional $10.  No discounts are given for riding a smaller ride (e.g. if you signed up for the 100K and the transferee decides to ride the 50K).

MMRR - July 26, 2021

Steven Muramoto

Bob and I will co-lead the MMRR for this coming Monday, July 26.  We will ride the usual MMRR route with a coffee stop at Panera, Pacific Commons (route is here --
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31759143; if you need a cue sheet, please print one for the ride).

Sign ups will be done at the Isherwood staging area and at the regroups at Chevron (Paseo Padre & Stevenson), and Grimmer/Paseo Padre.  As a reminder, there will no longer be roll times for the regroups (see the July 22 email regarding "Return to MMRR pre-pandemic mode").

See you Monday!

~Steven & Bob

Return to MMRR pre-pandemic mode

mbrasseur00

Hello all,

Starting this Monday, July 26th, the MMRR will return to the pre-pandemic ride mode. There will no longer be roll times for the regroups at the Chevron (Paseo & Stevenson) and Grimmer/Paseo. So if you wish to join the ride at these regroups please ensure to arrive before the ride group as the group will no longer wait for a specified amount of time.

Generally the ride group arrives at the Chevron between 9:00 - 9:10 am and arrives at the Grimmer/Paseo regroup around 9:30 - 9:40am. But these are estimates and depending on traffic, lights, and how many riders join at each regroup, the arrival times could be earlier or they could be later.

See you on the ride!

Mike and the MMRR Ride leaders

TMCR- Route Sheet

Good Morning,
Tomorrow we will climb some hills but most are optional and Kilkare is out and back. I hope you can come join the fun!  The route sheet is attached.  Please print it.

Thursday Morning Coffee Ride - Sunol Start
WhenThu, 22 July, 08:30 – 12:30
WhereGravel lot across from Niles Canyon Railway, 6 Kilkare Rd, Sunol, CA 94586, USA (map)
DescriptionLength: 28 miles
Elevation: 1600'
Terrain: 2, 3; Pace: T, M

This week the route starts from the gravel lot across from the Sunol Train Station.

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/1959843
Currently we are limited on riding around Sunol but we can still do our old favorite Kilkare, Happy Valley, Bernal Bump ride.  There are a lot of climbs, but there are also a lot of options to reduce it!  We will climb Kilkare, out and back, you can turn around anytime.  We head across the Verona Bridge and up Happy Valley where you are welcome to wait or climb to the water tower or Golf Course (which is only a restroom stop for the fastest riders as we don't want to keep everyone waiting too long!). Next is the bumpy Bernal Bump, but if you've had enough climbing, go directly to coffee. If you've done the Bump and want to go directly to coffee, there is an option that will safe you 1.5 miles.    Bring $ for coffee at Peet's. We will return to the Sunol Train Station via Happy Valley, Verona Bridge and Foothill but we won't repeat Kilkare. Please print your route sheet.

Extreme temperatures, construction or the whim of the ride leader may modify the route. Rain cancels, check https://ffbc.groups.io/g/info/topics, email or call me.

Riders must follow California and County mask and distancing guidelines (https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/COVID-19/guidance-for-face-coverings.aspx).  Ride leaders are not responsible for enforcing these guidelines.  It is incumbent on riders to follow these guidelines to keep our cycling community safe.

Pizza Ride Routes for Wednesday

Andrew Sass

This week is a chutes and ladders ride, with 4 routes intersecting 4 to 7 times and the ability to switch to an easier, or tougher, route during the ride.  All of the routes are about an hour to a little more for each level, and there is 1 hour 15 minutes to complete, so feel free to challenge yourself.  We visit the animals but on different streets and in different directions than normal.  Cue sheet attached.

Meet at 5:15 behind Mission Pizza, sign in by 5:25 to roll by 5:30.  Pizza is at 6:45.  Email if you are Pizza Only.

Wear a jersey from your favorite ride (other than the Primavera).
