Thank you Lori, Cindy and Ken for a great celebration ride yesterday!  And thank you Dave E for patiently waiting for a couple of us that would have missed a critical turn on the way back.

TITLE: Surprise!  2018 LAP Celebration, Beer & Food Ride!

MILEAGE/ELEVATION GAIN:  40/1850’

DATE:  3/18/18

TIME: 9:30AM

START:   Parking lot at the end of Marshlands Rd, at the base of the Dumbarton Bridge (Fremont side).

Just when you were wondering what you were going to do with your Sundays, now that the last LAP ride is over…  Surprise! We are holding a 2018 LAP Celebration Ride, complete with a beer and food stop! Please join us, whether or not you rode any of the LAP rides this year.   Our route will take us up to the Redwood City Cross and then back down again to the best part of the ride: beer and food!  We will stop at the Marsh Manor Center, at Marsh & Florence, in Menlo Park, where we can indulge at Freewheel Brewing, Starbucks, and a wide variety of yummy cuisines, sweets and ice cream at the local stores.

IMPORTANT note, we will start the ride later at 9:30am and we will meet at the BASE of the Dumbarton Bridge, so we don’t have to ride the dreaded Marshlands Rd.  There is plenty of parking at this location but no convenient bathroom.  Please use the facilities at Don Edwards before you park by the bridge. As usual, we will have options for a shortcut or two if you want to reduce mileage or skip the climb.    See the route here:https://ridewithgps.com/routes/26999476.  We will maintain a Touring through Moderate pace (10 to 16 mph). No drops and regroups as needed. Extreme weather or construction may modify the route and rain cancels. Check the FFBC message board or email or call us.

While there may be some dry periods this morning, it doesn’t look like there’s any chance of getting a ride in without getting pretty wet. Not to mention the wind and possible thunderstorms.

Per club policy, the ride is now a Show and Go. If you decide to test out your new rain gear, you might consider carrying a lightening rod.....

2018 Primavera - Final notice to register for the ride

James

Hi FFBC,

This final notice went out for registration to our Primavera. If you have any friends or family who want to join the ride, let them know it's almost sold out and they need to sign up now at our website.

We also have many opportunities to volunteer and help the club with the ride, and not just on the day of. Check out the link below to see where you're needed and sign up to help.

Thank you,

This is a final notice to all our past riders and registrants. If you have already registered, thank you! About April 10, we will send you some last minute instructions and pointers. Use of Calaveras Road is looking pretty certain. Better yet is that the road will be restricted to Primavera riders with a Sheriff checkpoint.

If you haven't signed up, or you have friends who haven't and you want them riding with you, tell them to register now at our website! We are over 90% sold on distance rides and once we hit our cap, that is it.

Don't forget we also have a 25 mile fun ride that is great for the whole family or if you're looking for a short ride. This ride is over 70% sold already.

If you can't ride and need to transfer your registration, please remember to follow the instructions on our website. If you are not riding this year and would like to be involved, we are still in need of volunteers. See where you can help and sign up here.

Thanks again to everyone for all your support this year and past as we work to give you another wonderful Primavera event.

5th Thursday! - Thursday Morning Coffee Ride

Lori Sommer

Hello,

We DO have a ride scheduled for next week, the 5th Thursday of the month.  I posted it to the calendar before the beginning of the March however, I posted it to my personal google calendar instead of the FFBC club calendar - my apologies.  It is corrected now.  Thanks, Julie, for bringing it to my attention.

I hope you can join me.  The current forecast is for 70deg. F and sun!

Thursday Morning Coffee Ride to Zachary's Pizza

DescriptionLength: 19 miles; Elevation: 1400 feet;

Meet at Central Park in San Ramon. Directions to the parking lot from Fremont: 680N, exit Bollinger, right turn onto Bollinger, left at the light on Marketplace (the turn is finally open again, parking lot on the RHS). We will climb to the top of Norris Canyon (looking for the miniature donkeys and peacocks along the way) and then turn back and head up Bollinger Canyon and look for the ostrich. Both climbs are out and back so you can turn around any time you feel like it. After a regroup at Las Trampas parking lot, we will head back to our cars and drive the couple of miles to Zachary's so we don't have to ride after eating (and Walt doesn't have to worry about riding with his leftovers in a pizza box). No one left behind. Bring $ for lunch. If you know you are coming please RSVP so I can make reservations! Extreme temperatures or construction or whim of the ride leader can modify the route. Rain cancels, check yahoo group, email or call me.

Moderated Tomorrow's Wednesday Ride - In Honor Of Ed Tanaka

I wanted to let you know that tomorrow's ride, starting in Niles, will proceed south to Sweigert Road in San Jose. Then we will climb to the top and spend a few moments remembering our good friend and comrade Ed Tanaka. Ed passed away at this location 5 years ago this month.

Remember to wear mismatching socks (but with a common theme)!
