Re: April Ride Calendar

Hi Dennis,
Thank you once again for keeping our rides organized. You’ll do the same once you’ve moved to Colorado?!
Seriously, I’d like to lead the 85mile Primavera workers ride Saturday April 13th. Hope for dry weather!

Coffee Riders,

The weather outlook has improved substantially for Thursday, with only a small chance showers. The Thursday Edition of the Thursday Morning Coffee Ride looks like a distinct possibility. I’ll make the final call tomorrow morning by 7am.

SHORT NOTICE RIDE : Huddart Park From Base of Bridge - about 35 miles

critch

Looks like nice weather Saturday after a rainy week.  We will skip the dreadful pavement and start from the end of Marshlands Road at the base of the Dumbarton bridge. We will take the bike/pedestrian bridge, then make our way over to Alameda De Las Pulgas via Valparaiso before climbing Woodside Road. Then on to Canada Blvd./Olive Hill/Albion and up to Huddart through the lower gate off Greer.  We will return via Mountain Home/Manzanita/Sandhill and have coffee at Sharon Park off of Sand Hill. Frequent re-groups. This is an M, and M- paced group. faster riders who know the route can zip ahead. Anyone who like to co-lead this ride is welcome (you can fix the flats!). No one left behind. Meet at 9:30 and we will roll at 9:45. I will bring some route sheets, or post one on here later if I can figure out how to amend an old route sheet that starts at a different location. - David Critchfield

Thursday morning coffee ride

Robert Tashjian

Coffee Riders,

I’m substitute Lori for this week. Current weather forecast is for showers on Thursday, making it look pretty bleak for riding. Friday looks pretty good. If we get rained out Thursday, let’s try Friday (Mar 29). It will be a special edition of the Thursday Coffee Ride Rides on Friday. I’ll make the call on Wednesday night by 7pm, we should have a pretty good idea by then. Watch for the email or check the status on the info list:

https://ffbc.groups.io/g/info.

The ride will start at the gravel parking lot across from the Sunol train station. We’ll ride out Calaveras to the top of the wall and return. Coffee/lunch at the Casa Bella Bistro in Sunol. Regroups at the false summit and the top of the wall.

Tuesday Hills M Pace

The weather sites disagree about tomorrow, but it looks like we should be able to get a ride in.  The plan is to do Palomares and Five Canyons with coffee at Pearl's.  Since Mission Blvd is under construction, we will take a new route back:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29534320.  The cue sheet with regroups is attached.  Please print and bring your own copy.  We may vote to change the route at the last minute based on forecasts.

Check for a post by 7 a.m. Tuesday to see if the ride is cancelled.  No post means we will ride.

Just a heads up that we are planning on riding tomorrow. We may cut the ride short and/or shorten the coffee stop if rain looks imminent.

We will cancel the ride by 7am tomorrow if it looks like even a short ride is not an option.

Calaveras CCW cancelled 3/23

Vanessa McDonnell

I hate to cancel tomorrow’s Calaveras CCW ride but unfortunately I am unable to lead due to a last minute wrinkle in my weekend. It’s not an emergency but it’s also not something that can wait until after tomorrow’s ride. I apologize for the last minute notice, I was looking forward to finally doing the Calaveras CCW loop again.
Per club policy the ride is now a show and go. Someone please bring a sign-in sheet to the start of the ride and stay safe.

For sale - 2019 Specialized Ruby Sport 44cm Road Bike

Donna Luporini Kaplan

From a neighbor and friend…  (This bike is in Oakland, but I just might be willing to deliver it.)

~Donna Kaplan

Hello-

I am selling my new 2019 Specialized Ruby 44cm road bike. I currently have been diagnosed with a serious back injury and cannot ride.

I bought this bike at the end of December and rode it three times for a total of about 35 miles. I paid $2700 for it three months ago and am asking $2000.

It has Shimano 105 and Tiagra shifting, hydraulic disc brakes, disc wheels, Future Shock—which is a piston in the head tube with 20mm of travel. The gearing is 30-34, which means you can climb any hill. More details here: https://www.specialized.com/us/en/ruby-sport/p/154490?color=239545-154490

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you!

LAP #8 Calaveras CW w/Marsh Rd.

Ken Goldman

Come join us Sunday for a very pretty ride including a short sojourn on Marsh Road which goes on the back side of the reservoir. After our lunch/coffee stop it’s a flat ride home. It should be a nice dry day for a very special ride.

Lori is drinking sake in Japan, so she won’t be joining us this week. But Vicki and I and our assortment of ride leaders will take good care of you.

Please print yourself a copy of the primitive route sheet below—but it’s pretty hard to get lost on this ride....

WhenSun, March 24, 9am – 2pm
WhereSTART: Niles parking lot across from H St on Niles Blvd. **Special Parking Instructions Below (map)
Description
Description:MILEAGE: 45 (40)

ELEVATION GAIN: 2532' (2109')

START: Niles parking lot across from H St on Niles Blvd.  *Special Parking Instructions Below

Let's explore! Many of us haven't been on Calaveras for a couple of years and we hear there is some nice, new pavement. We will head through Niles Canyon early and make a pit stop in Sunol. Our long missed Calaveras will be climbed in the clockwise direction and after descending The Wall, we will also start up Felter Rd, but only to Marsh Rd. Marsh is a 4 mile out and back with a very nice view. We will stop at Starbucks in Milpitas for a break before heading back to Fremont using a mostly flat route. You can skip the Felter and Marsh and reduce your mileage by 6 and your elevation by 400'.

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29019176

PDF versions of our Excel route sheets will be sent out via email to FFBC’s https://ffbc.groups.io/g/info/topics a few days before each ride. We ask that you print and bring it to the ride. The link to the route on ridewithgps.com is available for downloading but any route sheet generated from the link is for information only and does not have listed regroups.

We will maintain a Touring through Moderate pace (10 to 16 mph). No drops and regroups as needed. Extreme weather or construction may modify the route and rain cancels. A ride cancellation email will be sent to https://ffbc.groups.io/g/info/topics by the ride leader on the morning of the ride if it is being cancelled (no email means the ride is on). If you are unsure of the ride status, call or text ride leader on the morning of the ride.

**SPECIAL PARKING INSTRUCTIONS

In order to be good neighbors with the Niles Merchant Assoc. and not interfere with their customer parking, FFBC has agreed to park in different areas depending on the time of the week.
