DescriptionLength: 25-35 miles
Terrain: 2, 3; Pace: T, M

Wear a FFBC club jersey and let's stay close to home. We will meet at Sprouts located in the former Raley's Shopping Center (6399 Jarvis Ave, Newark).

We will mainly stay in Fremont but ride through Newark and sometimes Union City and Milpitas on occasion. Sometimes the climbing is optional. We always stop for coffee and riders are welcome to head back on their own if they know the way. Usually we ride without route sheets so we regroup as necessary and no one is left behind. Bring $ for lunch.

Extreme temperatures, construction or the whim of the ride leader may modify the route. Rain cancels, check https://ffbc.groups.io/g/info/topics, email or call! me!

Thanks Lori, David, Randy and Jessica for sticking with me in the back. You guys literally carried me through the ride and I really needed it. Once again thanks for an awesome ride and we could not have picked a better day I think.

WARNINGS:
  • Grant Ranch's temperature is forecast to be in the upper 30s.  Bring extra layers!
  • Our food break is 45 miles into the ride.  Bring plenty of food and water!
  • Google Maps shows Hwy 130 (Mt. Hamilton Road) as closed past where we turn into Joseph D. Grant County Park, likely due to flooding from the nearby lake and streams.  The park's phone line or webpage don't say anything about it so we should be OK.
This change may be for the best.  The forecast for Fremont/Milpitas/Grant Ranch looks good, while the forecast for Livermore/Tracy is unsettled.

A significant chance of rain cancels.  Please check https://ffbc.groups.io/g/info/topics after 7 a.m. Sunday.  No post means the ride is on.

Kudos, Barry for checking on the status of Corral Hollow Road!! This is the mark of an excellent ride leader.

I wouldn’t have thought about it - but it really would have been disappointing if we got 20 miles into the ride and then had to turn around and go back.

Hopefully, we will be able to do Grant Ranch tomorrow although the weather forecast does call for likely rain in the middle of the night.

Once in the park we’ll re-group at the Visitor’s Center (bathrooms, water) and then take the paved trail behind it up to Inspiration Point. On our way back we’ll stop for coffee/snack. Cinderella Training Ride - Saturday, REI to Alum Rock Park Inspiration Point

Yahoo-Julie

Hello Cinderella Riders!  We echo Lori Sommers' comment about 'wait and see'-- but assuming it is dry enough to safely complete our ride this Saturday:

Meet/Start: REI Fremont Google Maps
8:30 am * – 1:30 pm    * Be ready to roll out at 8:45
Please park on west side of building, towards back of parking lot.

Length: 35 miles; Elevation: 1490 feet / Terrain: 2, 3; Pace: T, M

Join us for a ride down to beautiful Alum Rock Park. This club favorite winds it’s way along the green foothills to Alum Rock Park in San Jose. Once in the park we’ll re-group at the Visitor’s Center (bathrooms, water) and then take the paved trail behind it up to Inspiration Point. On our way back we’ll stop for coffee/snack. Mostly flat - we have one climb up to Inspiration Point but then a long downhill to Starbucks/Noah's in Milpitas, and flat back to the start.
A cue sheet is attached - please print and bring with you if you are unsure of the route.
If the ride leaders decide conditions are not sufficiently dry, a cancellation email will be sent by the ride leader no later than 7 am Saturday; no email means the ride is on.
If you are unsure of the ride status, call or text ride leader on the morning of the ride.

Fingers crossed for decent conditions!

RESCHEDULED PRS 6 Corral Hollow 2/17

Barry

Reminder:  This Sunday's PRS ride is the rescheduled Corral Hollow ride.  I will be leading the M-paced group, and the M+ riders will draft their own leader at the start of the ride.  I'll bring sign-in sheets for both groups.

If the ride is cancelled or changed, I'll post a note by Sunday, 7 a.m. to https://ffbc.groups.io/g/info/topics.  No post means the ride is on.

The forecast for Sunday morning has shifted from sunny to rainy.  Hopefully it will be clear.  If not, we'll try to ride on Monday since it's the President's Day holiday.

Please print and bring the attached cue sheet.  The RideWithGPS link's cue sheet does not have all the regroups.

Starting this week we'll be doing a series of metric centuries while ramping up our climbing from 2750' to nearly 5000'.  Please be prepared for safe, healthy and successful rides by bringing two bottles of water, plenty of snacks, two spare tubes, a working pump, etc.

New Start Location!  Meet at 9:30AM for an 9:45AM start from the parking lot at the base of the Dumbarton Bridge (at the end of Marshlands Road) and we will head across the bridge to various destinations.

For a flat ride we head through East Palo Alto and along a few paths to Shoreline Park for lunch. For a ride with climbing, we do Woodside Road, Sand Hill/Whisky Hill, Alpine Loop, Arastradero or Edgewood Road.

Rain cancels, check https://ffbc.groups.io/g/info/topics, email or call! me!
