Route Sheet LAP 6

Lori Sommer

Good Morning,

More storms are headed our way so Sunday's forecast is unsettled.  Hopefully the ride will go on as planned and Ken will send out an email by 7AM Sunday.  I will be unable to attend this Sunday's ride so we will be looking to deputize someone to sweep up the rascals and partiers at the back of the group.  If this ride is canceled, we've decided we will reorganize the rides because with so much rain, it is hard to be ready for the increases in mileage and elevation gain.  But more on that if and when the time comes.

Attached please find and print the route sheet for LAP 6, Dublin, Schaefer, Bollinger.  This is a really nice ride!.  We offer alternatives to reduce mileage and climbing.  Bring some snacks as the coffee stop is at mile 36.

The weather forecasts keep shifting for Sunday, but it looks like we have a good chance of riding.  I will be leading the M-paced group, and the M+ riders will draft their own leader at the start of the ride.  I'll bring sign-in sheets for both groups.

On Sunday after 7 a.m., be sure to check https://ffbc.groups.io/g/info/topics for a cancellation or update. No post means the ride is on.

Please print and bring the attached cue sheet.  The RideWithGPS link's cue sheet does not have all the regroups.

Starting this week we'll be doing a series of six metric centuries while ramping up our climbing from 2750' to nearly 5000'.  Please be prepared for safe, healthy and successful rides by bringing two bottles of water, plenty of snacks, two spare tubes, a working pump, etc.

Sleep in or have another cup of coffee!  We are riding to Alum Rock. Since REI isn't open use the facilities at Starbucks or wait until we reach the Jose Higuera Adobe in Milpitas.

We will ride along the foothills and once we get into the park, there are options to head straight to the Visitor's Center or climb the Inspiration Loop and/or Miguelita Road. Also, you don't have to go all the way to the park...you can turn early to coffee to reduce milage significantly. If you are a slow climber, but want to do the extra climbing, please be considerate of the group and turn around when you see the faster riders returning OR bring yourself to coffee on your own.

We will have lunch at Noah's Bagels/Starbucks ($) before heading back on a flat route, with no regroups.

Extreme temperatures, park closure, construction or the whim of the ride leader may modify the route. Rain cancels, check https://ffbc.groups.io/g/info/topics, email or text me.

LAP RIDE IS CANCELLED

Some of tomorrow morning may be dry, but by late morning it looks like it will be raining everywhere. We are also concerned about the high winds in the hills as well as the wet roads.

Since this is one of everyone’s favorite rides, we will possibly reschedule it later- maybe after Primavera.

Good Morning,

It will be wet but hopefully the rain is over. We decided against the  previously planned almost 50 mile route due to the portion of packed dirt that is probably muddy by now (just before that steep Bridge to Nowhere). Barry is putting together a new route for us now. We are STILL riding to lobster but to an alternative location with less mileage. We really hope you join us today. Doesn’t soup sound yummy?
