Tim, thanks.
I’ll be there. Perhaps let’s do the CCW and then return via the backside of Palomares.

PRS 4 Around the Bay

This Sunday we ramp up our miles with a fun ride around the South Bay!  Donna and I will be co-leading the M-pace group, and we'll bring an extra sign-in sheet so the M+ riders can elect their own ride leader.  Please print and bring the cue sheet that's attached to this message.  It has all the regroups and the lunch stop.  The RWGPS link, below, has the route but not the regroups.

p.s. Since we're ramping up the miles, don't forget to bring two spare tubes, two bottles of water and extra food.

Cinderella Coaching & Conditioning - Alviso ride

Julia Walker

This week we ride out to the Alviso marina and back. There will be frequent regroups and at least two groups, so the ride should be fun for everyone. The ride starts at the Starbucks on Mission Blvd in Warm Springs (not the Starbucks in the Safeway across the street).

Please print a route sheet (attached), or use RidewithGPS. If you don't have a paid RidewithGPS account, you can use the route from the club library.

Hope to see you Saturday - arrive by 8:30 to start at 8:45.

LAP 4 - ATTACHED ROUTE SHEET

Lori Sommer

Hello LAP riders!

We were rained out on Sunday but some of us were able to get in a chilly LAP 3 on Monday.  I will grudgingly admit that Huddart was really pretty but dang, it is steep!  Thank you to our spectacular ride leaders - Vanessa, Louis, Conni and Dennis Dong.  We appreciate your help.

On to LAP 4, an old favorite, Portola Loop with Upper Alpine added in.  The official route is 42miles with 2,175' of elevation gain.  However, it can be modified by skipping the out and back on Upper Alpine and it will be 35miles and 1207' of gain.  You can also park at the base of the Dumbarton and meet us at the benches on the other side and cut out 5-6miles.  Something for almost everyone!

A clarification regarding LAP route sheets - the official route sheet is ATTACHED to this email and should be printed and brought to the ride. This beautiful pdf has all our official regroups and route modifications!  The route sheet generated using this ridewithgps link (https://ridewithgps.com/routes/26478350) is for INFORMATION ONLY.

We will meet in the upper parking lot as we expect the restrooms at the Visitor Center to still be closed.

We hope to see you Sunday.

If you want to reduce the climbing, just turn into Robert’s Market as we pass it the first time and take a long coffee break. We will return on Portola/Sandhill and Willow. Route - Thursday Morning Coffee Ride

Lori Sommer

Hello Thursday Morning Coffee Riders,

Hold on to your Peet's card; we are riding some bumps to coffee.  First, Kilkare, Foothill, Happy Valley, Clubhouse and/or the water tower plus the Bernal Bump before coffee then Happy Valley and Foothill on the way back.  The mileage is 27 and the elevation gain is about 1800'.  Of course, you can turn around early on Kilkare and skip Clubhouse and/or the Bump entirely - the route is easily modified.  I hope to see you at 9:30!

Our favorite destinations include the Corner Bakery or Peet's via Kilkare, the water tower and Bernal Bump or maybe out to Panama Red Coffee in Livermore by way of Sycamore Grove/Holdener Park or the climbs out by Signal Hill and the fun descent on Croak Road with lunch at Panera in Livermore. Another favorite is Denica's in Dublin via Windemere. Bring $ for coffee or lunch.

Hello,

What a wonderful ride in the hills last week.  It was a cold and foggy start but the day warmed up a bit and the beautiful green hills were scenic even unfilled with lambs, calves or llamas. We had a big turnout for all paces and are hoping for the same this Sunday.  Thank you to our ride leaders: Vanessa, Rob T., and Louis.  The weather forecast is questionable so we will send out a message either way by Sunday at 7AM.

LAP 3 crosses the Dumbarton and we plan to climb Edgewood (no Brewster Bump for 2019!), Olive Hill and Huddart Park and the official route is 44 miles and 1971'.  But we have options!  You can skip Huddart and your route will be 41 miles and 1536' as shown in blue (reduce route by 3 miles and 435') or skip both Olive Hill and Huddart and the route becomes 38miles and 1250' as shown in purple on the route sheet (reduce route by 6 miles and 721').  Another unofficial option - park at the base of the bridge and meet us at the first regroup at the benches on the other side of the bridge to sign in (please let me know in advance) and reduce your ride by 5-6 miles.

One important point is to use the restroom BEFORE you arrive to Don Edward.  The gates are open (and we are parking in the upper lot) BUT THE RESTROOMS ARE CLOSED.  So we will do our sign-in at the upper parking lot rather than the restroom.  Ken has verified the restrooms will be open at BayFront Park at mile 8.3 (run by the city and on a timer).

The second point is to please print your route sheet!  It is attached to the email.  We will bring a few to the start incase someone has last minute printer issues but please plan to bring your own so you aren't caught short.

We hope to see you (and that the rain takes a break)!

LAP Rides - More Fun!
The Less Aggressive Progressive (LAP) ride series is back for its seventh year and it’s going to be even better! Not only will you train for a metric century by cycling weekly routes, that get progressively longer with more climbing, but you will do it with a fun group of people! This year we are increasing the number of rides from ten to fourteen and we plan to summit Mt. Hamilton to finish out the series.

Of course most of the LAP routes can be modified (even Mt. Hamilton) to reduce mileage and climbing and you are always welcome to join mid-route, skip coffee/lunch, leave early or ride off the front – just let a ride leader know. There is always a sweep and we do many smaller regroups so no one is left behind. Once again, the LAP rides will be lead by lots of friendly, knowledgeable and helpful ride leaders for the LAP series.

The LAP series has less elevation gain and climbing than the traditional FFBC Progressive Series (PRS) and is aimed at Touring/Moderate pace riders (especially those that climb at a slower pace). PDF versions of our Excel route sheets will be sent out via email to FFBC’s https://ffbc.groups.io/g/info/topics a few days before each ride. We ask that you print and bring it to the ride.
