moderated Cinderella Coaching & Conditioning Series 2019 - under new management!

Julia Walker

Please welcome and thank Tonya Godinez for taking over the coordination and leading of the Cinderella Series for 2019! We have a lot of experienced ride leaders joining the series this year, who haven't helped with Cinderella in a couple of years. Please join them for fun and adventure! I want to thank all the ride leaders who helped over the past four years that I was the coordinator, we could not put this series on without a lot of help!

This year the series starts with a coaching "ride". Margaret and Donna will give some brief pointers to new-ish riders, followed by a short coaching ride. Please join this ride if you would like to be more comfortable riding in a group, or if you aren't sure you are ready to do the series. Then we start the conditioning series with a short ride to Mission Coffee. Margaret and Donna will lead the group, and will be riding with the coaching ladies. There will be several ride leaders for this ride, so everyone should feel comfortable joining in. The conditioning series then continues as normal.

If you know anyone who would be interested in the "mini" coaching series - please spread the word!

All rides have been posted to the ride calendar with the exception of ride #7. This is Calaveras, which is still not open. We will post that ride shortly, but it is subject to change.

Hope to see you on the road!
Julia

moderated Osprey Fairview 40L travel backpack for sale

Fujino, Don H.

Hi all,
Is anyone interested in a Osprey Fairview 40-liter travel backpack? It’s great on bike tours or other get-away travels as it fits in airplane overhead (22x14x9), has lots of storage, opens like a suitcase, can carry like a backpack, and hip/shoulder straps can be zipped away when in overhead.

I got an extra one by mistake and it would be a pain to ship back. It’s brand new $111 (tax included). REI normal price is $160, so that’s a big savings. I’ve included a few pics.

Thanks,
Don

Hi all,

Today Sydney and I received an email from Ellen Boykin regarding the passing of Sam Boykin, former FFBC President. For those of you that knew him, I am saddened to say he passed on Tuesday, December 11th. He had been in an assisted living place in Los Osos for about a year. Up until a month ago, he was in good spirits and engaged. Ellen said during the last month he had been in a decline. She said he went peacefully and comfortably. The Celebration of Life for Sam will be on Sunday, 1/6/19, at 1PM at the local community center there in Los Osos (South Bay Community Center). You can contact Ellen at: ellenb695@....

Hello!
Tomorrow we will do the Animals Backward with a stop at Mission Coffee.

WhenThu, December 20, 9:30am – 1:30pm
WhereSprouts Farmers Market, 6399 Jarvis Ave, Newark, CA 94560, USA (map)
DescriptionLength: 25-35 miles
Terrain: 2, 3; Pace: T, M

Wear a FFBC club jersey and let's stay close to home. We will meet at Sprouts located in the former Raley's Shopping Center (6399 Jarvis Ave, Newark).

We will mainly stay in Fremont but ride through Newark and sometimes Union City and Milpitas on occasion. Sometimes the climbing is optional. We always stop for coffee and riders are welcome to head back on their own if they know the way. Usually we ride without route sheets so we regroup as necessary and no one is left behind. Bring $ for lunch.

Extreme temperatures, construction or the whim of the ride leader may modify the route. Rain cancels, check https://ffbc.groups.io/g/info/topics, email or call! me!

You can claim to own the exact same trainer.  It can be yours free.  Just come and get it.
This is a Performance brand portable mag trainer with variable resistance control.
The color is white.
A perfect Christmas present for that special someone who thinks they have everything.
It's one thing to more to check off that list.

moderated Route for tomorrow's Tuesday Hills ride (B pace)

Vanessa McDonnell

Tomorrow for the Tuesday Hills ride (B pace) we’ll be tackling a new route through Redwood City, Belmont & Woodside. The RideWithGPS link to the ride is below and the route sheet is attached. FYI, the route sheet only includes the turns from the pedestrian overpass over 101 (on the way out and back). The total mileage for the route is 42 and the elevation gain is 3,033’ (or so says RideWithGPS which sometimes overstates elevation gain).

Meet time is the usual 8:45am at the base of the Dumbarton bridge.

moderated Monday Morning Recovery Ride

Robin O'Hara

Assuming we don't wake up to rain on Monday morning, we will meet at the usual time and place, Cabrillo Shopping Center on Thornton at 8:30am (check the ride calendar for specifics). As we leave the ride start at 8:45am, we are planning on a leisurely ride through the neighborhood on Nicolette to view the holiday decorations.  This means we may be 10-15 minutes late for our normal regroups at Stevenson and Grimmer.  Better yet, come to the official start and get in the holiday spirit with us!
