As Julie just emailed, the air quality is forecasted to be bad through the weekend. So I am cancelling the ride and it becomes a show and go.

If you ride please be safe and wear a space suit with oxygen or just hold your breath and close your eyes.

I just saw the late night weather forecast for tomorrow, and it is predicted that there will be unhealthy levels of air quality for the entire SF Bay Area for Friday, November 9, 2018. Therefore, I am canceling the Friday Bike Club ride for that date. The ride now becomes a Show and Go. If anyone decides to ride, please be careful.

New Start Location!  Meet at 9:00AM for an 9:15AM start from the parking lot at the base of the Dumbarton Bridge at the end of Marshlands Road and we head across the bridge to various destinations.

For a flat ride we head through East Palo Alto and along a few paths to Shoreline Park for lunch. For a ride with climbing, we do Woodside Road, Sand Hill/Whisky Hill, Alpine Loop, Arastradero or Edgewood Road. Sometimes the climbing is optional. We always stop for coffee and riders are welcome to head back on their own if they know the way. Usually we ride without route sheets so we regroup as necessary and no one is left behind. Bring $ for lunch.

Extreme temperatures, construction or the whim of the ride leader may modify the route. Rain cancels, check https://ffbc.groups.io/g/info/topics, email or call! me!

Are you interested in doing the After Thanksgiving day ride on Friday around the Monterey Peninsula to Point Lobos and back? That would be on Friday with a 9:30 start in Pacific Grove. We can have a meal afterwards at Fishwife Restaurant on the Asilomar instead of Phils. With enough people responding, I will lead this scenic ride. Basically the same optimized ride I used to lead many times years back. Please respond here and I will gauge the results on Thursday the 8th to lead it or not.  Post either here or on facebook, not both please.

Thanx,

Wynn

Donna Luporini Kaplan

Hello fellow cyclists,

I hope you can join us on the 1st Saturday of the Month ride tomorrow. As you’ve probably heard, we still cannot do the traditional Calaveras Clockwise ride, so we will ride down to (and through) Alum Rock Park, go up Miguelita, and head over to the Milpitas Noah’s/Starbucks for coffee and a snack.

See you tomorrow!

Donna Kaplan

Calaveras Clockwise

When     Sat, November 3, 8:30am – 1:00pm

Where    Downtown Niles parking lot across from H St at Niles Blvd (map)

Description   Length: 46 miles; Elevation: 2117 feet Terrain: 3; Pace: M

Meet at 8:30 for an 8:45 start. This is our traditional "1st Saturday of the Month" ride. However, due to the continued closure of Calaveras Road, we will ride to Alum Rock Park instead. The route will still bring us out into Milpitas, and we will still return via a route that stays close to the hills. Bring $$ for a coffee stop at Noah's/Starbucks in Milpitas. Rain or serious threat of rain cancels.
