Hello FFBC Members,
It is that time of year again.  I just updated the ride calendar to add Walt's Birthday Ride for Thursday September 13th (next week, not this Thursday).

Walt is turning 87! He continues to inspire us and will make his annual birthday trek up "Nike Hill". The climb is optional for everyone else. This year we will keep the celebration simple.

Meet at the large parking lot (left at the stop sign on Marshlands at the top of the hill, don't descend to the Dumbarton Bridge) above the Don Edward Visitor Center (restrooms) for helmet ribbons and lots of pictures. Then we will head to Coyote Hills to get the hard part done early as per Walt's request before taking the Alameda Creek trail to Isherwood, then the streets into Niles with a few regroups along the way. We will grab some ice cream, coffee and snacks at various locations and regroup at the Niles Plaza to relax and enjoy the day. There two choices for ice cream (a micro-creamery and a more traditional shop), a pour-over coffee shop and a taco truck. With so many sweets available we will forgo cake (no worries, he will have one at the Tour de Fuzz potluck).

I sure hope you can come celebrate with Walt!

moderated Special Offer: Cycling in Japan This Oct - Fall Adventures Await

Rob McManmon <robmcmanmon@...>

Hi Freewheelers,

Hope you all are doing well! I wanted to reach out, in case any riders out there are itching for a cycling get-away.

As you might know, I lead small groups of riders on cycling tours in Japan each year, and we are getting ready to start our fall season next week. One of our trips just had a group of 4 riders drop from our Tour of the North Alps due to family reasons, and we are hoping to fill their spots asap. The trip dates are Oct 21-28, 2018, and I encourage you to check out the detailed itinerary on our site to make sure the trip is a good fit for your ride level. Keep in mind there are plenty of options to add distance and climbs throughouthttps://biketourjapan.com/north-3/

If there is a group of 4+ that is interested, I’d be happy to offer $500 off per rider, as this is an unusual circumstance and a last-minute departure. The price of the 8-day trip will be $3950 (includes all meals/snacks/bike rental/sag/taxes/fees/tips) and single supplement is $750. This is the lowest price we have ever been able to offer for this trip, and we can't wait to introduce new guests to this spectacular corner of Japan--it's absolutely amazing for riders who enjoy scenic climbs/descents on quiet roads, excellent food, and unbelievable nature. We would like to confirm bike sizes, dietary preferences, allergies, and other travel details as soon as possible. We are planning to lock in our ryokan hotel reservations on 9/16, so please confirm with me by Sept 15 if you are interested in joining us on this epic cycling adventure. Thanks, and hope to ride with you all soon! Don't hesitate to reach out with any immediate questions or concerns.

All the best,

Rob

Hello, FFBC members.  It seems that not everyone is using the subgroups on this email list so I am sending this to the general info list.  So far, there are only 6 people subscribing to the forsale@ffbc.groups.io list.  If you want to take advantage of the subgroups that have been created, forsale, offers, discussion, you can sign up for these specific groups at:

If we don't take advantage of these subgroups, then everyone will simple send all messages to the broader info group and we will all simply get a lot of messages we aren't interested in reading....

Anyhow, enough with the public service part of the message....

I am selling an E-Bike that I purchased about 9 months ago.  It has probably less than 200 miles and is like new complete with a fender kit.  It's a perfect city commuter bike complete with integrated lights, fenders and a rugged and reliable rear motor drive.  The bike has an integrated cellular modem with bluetooth communications with a Flashbike phone app, which reports GPS position, battery state, etc, much like a Tesla App for tesla vehicles.  Being a MTB type layout with flat bars, the bike can fit people from between about 5'4" to 6'2".

Battery range is from 24 to 60 miles per charge depending upon power setting and terrain and rider effort.

Info and Specs here:

I am asking for $1000 or best reasonable offer.  Please contact me at my personal email:

Hello Tour de Fuzz Riders,

We are fast approaching one of the best rides of the year on Saturday, September 8th!  The Tour de Fuzz (https://www.tourdefuzz.org)  is sold out but if you want to come and didn't sign up in time, here is a way to get notified of any openings: tour de fuzz courtesy notification.

Please fill out the following Google document (FFBC Fun at the Fuzz) to let me know the usual (which route you're planning, if/where you're staying, your cell, arrival and departure day,  if you're coming to the potluck, what you are bringing, etc).  Or, if spreadsheets aren't your thing, just send me a text or an email with the info.  Please fill out the document or send me the information even if you are just joining us for the day/  We can still meet you at the start, look for you on the road, at the rest stops and eat together at the finish plus then I can try to talk you into stopping by for the potluck.

The potluck will be at the same location as last year, Best Western Wine Country Inn and Suites: 870 Hopper Avenue, Santa Rosa.  Last year it worked out well with Julie taking a $10 donation and ordering pizza (in lieu of a potluck item).  Is anyone willing to organize the pizza part of it this year?  We will have cake for Walt's birthday!

I'm looking forward to seeing our beautiful, bright orange FFBC jerseys on the roads of the wine country.

Hope you can make it!
