Date

Monday Morning Recovery Ride

Robin O'Hara

I will be leading the MMRR on Monday, July 25. The route will be to Starbucks in Milpitas.  We meet to sign in at 8:30am across from the Isherwood Staging Area and roll at 8:45am.  There will be a regroup across from Lake Elizabeth and at Paseo Padre & Grimmer.

Please check the ride listing in the Ride Calendar for the ridewithgps route and cue sheet.  However, we still may not be able to ride on the Coyote Creek trail so we will stay on McCarthy Ranch Road.

Hope to see you Monday.

Robin

We do have a few extra spaces, so if you did volunteer, and have not signed up yet, go ahead and come to the picnic as well.

Please drop me an email (no need to reply all) in case I have to order a little more food

Monday Morning Recovery Ride - Just a quick note about start location

Yahoo-Julie

FYI - the ride leader and sign in will be located on the north side of Isherwood Way, across the street from the entrance to the parking lot of the Alameda Creek Trail Isherwood staging area. The rwgps route & start point url shows the start IN the staging area parking lot.

Meeting across the street from the parking lot avoids a left turn out of the parking lot onto Isherwood Way.
FYI #2 - There are porta potties a short way south on the trail from the parking lot; the first re-group is across the street from bathrooms at Lake Elizabeth (intersection of Paseo Padre & Bayliss, near Aqua Adventure water park) at mile 5.5 from start to allow for a bathroom stop for any who need at that point in the ride.
FYI #3 - Reminder: Classic Route, M Pace - details below.

Correction: Monday Morning Recovery Ride

Robert Tashjian

Correction: The first regroup/bathroom break will be at Mission San Jose Park (next to Mission San Jose), NOT Old Mission Park! We will not be stopping at Old Mission Park. Please take note if you’re planning on joining us at the first regroup.

Recovering Riders,

Announcing a special edition of the Monday Morning Recovery Ride for July  4th. Hope you like pancakes! The MMRR will start as usual across from the Isherwood Staging Area, meet at 8:30 for an 8:45 roll. Due to the street closures in downtown Fremont for the 4th of July Parade, we will ride the Alameda Creek trail to Mission to Palm back to Paseo, stopping at Mission San Jose Park for a regroup/bathroom break.  Next regroup is the usual regroup at Paseo/South Grimmer. We’ll follow the more or less classic route, but will skip the Lakeview loop and forego the stop at Panera. We’ll continue up Boyce/Cherry to the Newark Fire Station at Cherry & Mowry, where we will feast at their 4th of July Pancake Breakfast(cost is $5).

RWGPS route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39903906

Please note that due to the street closures, we will not be riding by Lake Elizabeth, if you planned to join there, you should either join at Mission San Jose Park or continue to the regroup at Paseo/South Grimmer.

If you are not riding, but would like to join us for breakfast, we should be at the Fire Station between 10 and 10:30. We’ll be the group with the bikes:^)

Roads to Avoid

Ronald L. Mitchell

Here are three areas you should avoid using for group rides

1.  Foothill road north of Sunol.
The road at the former wash out is under construction again, and is down to one lane.  There are stop lights metering traffic so each direction can get through.  However during the week when work crews are present there may be long delays.  There was construction equipment there in Saturday and a deep trench had bee dug on the water side of the road.  This not going to be  quick fix.

2.  Crow Canyon Road, East of Alcosta Blvd.
We previewed a ride which included this section of road recently.
There is a major rebuilding of the road going on that should takes months.  There is only one traffic lane and no bike lane each way.

3. Ruby Hill
Ruby Hill is a gated community and has been refusing entry of cyclist.  You may be turned away.
