Hello Thursday Coffee Riders,

Happy St. Patrick's Day in advance!  Wear something green and join me for a climb up Appian and Stenhammer!  We will have our break at Mission Coffee.  I hope to see you tomorrow unless you are joining Terri's longer ride over the bridge.

Last week we had lunch at Jim T's suggested place (Jim ALWAYS has good suggestions) Cafe Borrone near Kepler Books on El Camino.  My heart sort of sank when I saw the line but actually it moved really quickly and they had plenty of seating for all of us.  We will add it to our repertoire.

DescriptionLength: 30 miles,
Elevation Gain: 900'
Terrain: 2, 3; Pace: T, M

SPECIFIC ROUTE: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37121095
DETAILS: Sprouts to Appian Way and Stenhammer (climbs optional)
BREAK: at Mission Coffee
Please print attached route sheet.

Wear a SOMETHING GREEN and let's stay close to home. We will meet at Sprouts located in the former Raley's Shopping Center (6399 Jarvis Ave, Newark).

The specific route for this third Thursday of the month repeating ride will be posted here (with an attachment for you to print) as well as to the FFBC email groups (https://ffbc.groups.io/g/info/topics ) once it is selected.  This is usually done a day or maybe two days before the ride.  Sometimes we ride without route sheets so we regroup as necessary and no one is left behind.

We will mainly stay in Fremont but ride through Newark and sometimes Union City and Milpitas on occasion. Sometimes the climbing is optional. We always stop for coffee ($) and riders are welcome to head back on their own.

DISCLAIMERS:
This is a no drop ride but the group can be on the larger side and will break up as we progress along the route especially as it is a T/M ride.  Riders are expected to be proficient in following their route sheet or using their GPS in case they are separated. We will wait at regroups for all riders.

Extreme temperatures, poor air quality, park closure, construction, rain and/or high winds,  or the whim of the ride leader may modify or cancel the route. Check here for updates: info@ffbc.groups.io.

Just a reminder, don’t forget to adjust the clock ahead one hour before going to bed on Saturday evening.  So, yes, you are going to lose one hour of sleep if you go to bed at the usual time.

One month to thePrimavera - Time to Volunteer

Andrew Sass <andrew.sass@...>

Thanks for the response for those of you have already volunteered.  Some people have signed up for two, or even three, spots.

There are still 126 slots available, roughly 1/3 of the positions.  The club has 400 plus members, so now is the time to do your duty.  This is the only event that brings in money for the club.

Looking at the sign in page, the positions at the top of the page are all filled, but there is a great need towards the bottom.  Please consider helping at the Ed Levin rest stop and being a SAG driver.  As it is not cheap to drive around half the day, we are offering gas reimbursement, up to $60.  Registration in the morning also has openings.  That would allow you to work two shifts!

Remember, besides a stylish t-shirt and rest stop food, or food truck food (two shift volunteers), plus a good bag with bike related items, you get to ride the Worker's Ride with the same 25-mile, 100k, 90-mile, and 100-mile routes with rest stops and SAG support the week before the actual Primavera

Here is the volunteer link

Have a magical day

Change in Plan Re: TMCR - Route

Lori Sommer

Hi,
I checked the temp but neglected to check  the wind!  We will meet at the start and shorten the route significantly. Please ride to the start if you want more miles but the winds may be very gusty on your way home. Thanks, Barry and Julie for the heads up.

Brisk PRS ride to Mt. Diable & Morgan Territory

Raymond Nieh

Almost done with Livermore.  This time we will be enjoying the view as we climb Mt. Diablo up to the Junction Ranger Station.  Typically, there is water refill there.  Afterward, we descend to Walnut Creek and continue to Clayton, and explore the scenic climb and descent of Morgan Territory (quail, red-winged blackbirds, frogs, the trickling of streams, some wildflowers).  We can have lunch and water-refill at the top of the climb.

When:   We will be meeting this Sunday at 8:30am.

Where:  Meet at Sycamore Valley Park/School, 2101 Holbrook Dr, Danville, CA 94526

Please download this latest RWGPS route onto your ride computer device or your phone app:  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38696769

No Cue sheet will be handed out.

All riders need to be fully vaccinated.

Rest Stops:

Junction Ranger Station (Mt.Diablo) - Water refill (hope still available) - mile 12

Clayton Park- mile 27

Top of Morgan Territory-mile 40

If you rode last week and are joining the ride, text me so I can prepare the sign-in sheet for you.  For others, if you are planning to join us, please email me your name and phone numbers (both the phone you carry with you on the ride and the emergency numbers) so I can put them on the sign-in sheet for you. So, all you need to do is to initial at the beginning of the ride.
