50th Anniversary Primavera Century
Randy Fewel
October 2021
Dear FFBC Club Members:
The Primavera Committee is looking for sponsors, and we are reaching out to our members to see of any of you might want to have your company be a sponsor, a donor, or provide a service.
Fremont Freewheelers’ 50th Anniversary Primavera Century has been scheduled for Sunday, April 10, 2022. We are expecting a sellout with 1200 registered riders and 200+ volunteers on three routes of 25, 63, and 100 miles (with a 90 mile option).
We are looking for sponsors to donate:
1: Goody bag items to support the riders
Your company could put your brand and information on items or their packaging for pre or post ride goodie bags. Ideas for pre-ride are packets of sun block, lip balm, or hand sanitizer.
We already have sponsors for tubes, and patch kits, but other things that riders could use would be appreciated such as gift certificates for goods or services that promote your business.
2: Cash donations to help pay for the expense of putting on the ride. (Sorry, no tax write-off)
In support of your good will to the bicycling community we will give you free advertising with your logo on our t-shirts and a link to your company’s webpage on our FFBC website. We will also give you free entry into the ride valued at $95.
If you are able to donate, we will need to know t-shirts sizes for two of your staff and after plans are finalized, we will register one rider for the ride of their choice ($95 value).
Please visit our website for more details about the ride. https://ffbc.org/primavera/
We look forward to hearing from you.

Tour de Hills
Because of the red flag warning and the risks of high winds and debris, we have switched the next two week's Tour de Hills rides. This Tuesday's ride, led by Terri, features Morrison Canyon, Vargas and the Animals. Hopefully we'll be able to do the whole ride, but, if needed, we can modify it based on riding conditions.
Length: 23.3 miles; Elevation: 2214 feet; Terrain: 3,4 Pace: M NOTE FOR WEEKEND RIDES: Riders arriving by car are asked to park in the unpaved parking area south of the train station, between I and J streets. Meet at 9:00 a.m. for a 9:15 a.m. start. We will ride some Fremont Hills this week. The ride will finish at Peet’s for a cup of well deserved fresh brewed coffee.Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37667208 Rain, significant chance of rain or poor riding condition cancels. A ride cancellation email will be posted to "https://ffbc.groups.io/g/info/topics" on the morning of the ride if it is being cancelled (no email means the ride is on). If you are unsure of the ride status, call or text ride leader on the morning of the ride. Note ride end time is a rough estimate. Terri Yi: terriyi@..., (510) 304-5571 Riders must follow California and County mask and distancing guidelines (https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/COVID-19/guidance-for-face-coverings.aspx). Old FFBC Jerseys
Cleaning out a drawer I found some older FFBC jerseys from around 2004-2006. They are the blue and red ones with the winding red road on them. They are 3XL size, at least one is, the other two have a worn out label. They are free to anyone that wants them.
Good riding

FFBC - We have a Fremont Race Team winter ride coming up tomorrow if anyone wants some climbing and speed. Info below - I believe this would be rated an F+/5 on the FFBC ride rating system. Team - Here's the 'official' invite to our second off season team ride: Where: Roll from Devout Coffee at 8:30 What: Palomares -> Calaveras clockwise, route is here. Time: 3 hours-ish. The ride is about 50 miles on the two best routes in the east bay, if you don't have time or energy for both of the sections you can join up or bail out in Sunol. We'll try to roll fast and regroup after major sections, we can make the decision on where those should be when we see who shows up. TMCR - Alum Rock
Lori Sommer
Hello, It's that time again - Alum Rock! Meet me tomorrow 9AM at REI. Print a route sheet if you need one. Hope you can make it. Lori Thursday, 7 October WhenThu, 7 October, 09:00 – 13:00 WhereREI, 43962 Fremont Blvd, Fremont, CA 94538, USA (map) DescriptionLength: 34 miles (with shortcuts of -17mi, -7mi, -5mi, -3mi) Terrain: 2, 3; Pace: T, M Since REI isn't open, please use the facilities at Starbucks or wait until we reach the more familiar Jose Higuera Adobe in Milpitas. We are riding to Alum Rock along the beautiful foothills. This is a route with lots of flexibility - to push yourself or take it easy and stretch your legs - whichever you like. I've updated the regroup point to Jose Higuera Adobe at mile 6. Take Shortcut 1 directly to coffee and cut your mileage by 17. Shortcut 2 cuts out 7 miles if you choose to ride to the park entrance (restrooms) then turn around.. Or you may go directly to the set of restrooms at the Youth Center and cut out 5 miles and significant climbing using Shortcut 3. You may continue on the route, decide to skip Miguelito and only do Inspiration Loop (Shortcut 4, -3miles) or you may be in great shape and do the whole 34miles! Please review the route sheet in advance and be prepared to follow your plan as I won't be chasing anyone down. Better yet, find a friend with the same plan and stick together. Let me know if you have any questions. No one left behind. If you want to do climbing, consider turning around when you see the faster riders returning OR bring yourself to coffee on your own. We will have lunch at Starbucks/Noah's Bagels ($) before heading back on a flat route, with no regroups. Here's the route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/36345433 Please print the attached cue sheet and put my cell number in your phone in advance. DISCLAIMERS: This is a no drop ride but the group can be on the larger side and will break up as we progress along the route especially as it is a T/M ride. Riders are expected to be proficient in following their route sheet or using their GPS in case they are separated. We will wait at regroups for all riders. Extreme temperatures, poor air quality, park closure, construction, rain and/or high winds, or the whim of the ride leader may modify or cancel the route. Check here for updates: info@ffbc.groups.io.
